These mid-size lanterns are designed to be used for such individual tasks such as lighting a hiking trail at night, reading in a tent, or just having as an emergency light source around the house. They are powered by 4 D cell batteries, so are much lighter in weight and more compact than the full-sized lanterns but still produce a very bright light.
